Trial Attorney

Summary

The successful candidate will be a 10+ year attorney, with a successful record of multiple jury verdicts. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for serving the public interest by advocating on behalf of our clients. Being hardworking, dedicated, and discovery driven are all key factors in success at our Firm. Strong communications skills and a can-do attitude are expected of all of our personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assume first chair responsibilities for trial efforts.
  • Help to develop trial strategy.
  • Conduct complicated research projects in the prosecution of our cases.
  • Additional consideration given to those with significant experience in Arbitration, Coordinated Proceedings and Multi-District Litigation.
  • Direct interface with specialized outside counsel on behalf of the firm and its clients.
  • Draft moving papers, oppositions involving novel and complicated issues.
  • Appear at hearing for motions and oppositions.
  • Conduct depositions of PMK witnesses, apex employees, mechanical and fraud experts, etc.
  • Seek out and recommend improvements in the client communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement policies and develop improvements.
  • Resolve issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Timely reporting of hours.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Managing Partner or Partner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualities and Skills

These are needed to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities.

  • Minimum 10 years prior proven working experience as an Attorney.
  • Minimum J.D., and California Bar license, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrable strength in client communication.
  • Proficient in MS Office and the use of Attorney timekeeping programs, as well as Client file management.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Career Track

Following multiple years practicing as a Trial Attorney for the firm, and depending upon the attorney’s goals and performance, a Trial Attorney could pursue a path towards a Partner position.

Senior Attorney

Summary

The successful candidate will be a 5+ year attorney, who demonstrates a passion for serving the public interest by advocating on behalf of our clients. Being hardworking, dedicated, and discovery driven are all key factors in success at our Firm. Strong communications skills and a can-do attitude are expected of all of our personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct complicated research projects in the prosecution of our cases.
  • Assume responsibilities for trial efforts, typically as second chair or third chair.
  • Direct interface with trial counsel, and other specialized outside counsel on behalf of the firm and its clients.
  • Draft moving papers, oppositions involving novel and complicated issues.
  • Appear at hearing for motions and oppositions.
  • Conduct depositions of PMK witnesses, apex employees, mechanical and fraud experts, etc.
  • Provide assistance with trial strategy.
  • Provide senior level oversight of Attorney II and Attorney I employees, as designated by Supervising Partner.
  • Seek out and recommend improvements in the client communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement policies and develop improvements.
  • Provide legal support for the coordination of inter- and intra-departmental operations.
  • Resolve issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Timely reporting of hours.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Managing Partner, Partner, and/or Trial Attorney.
  • Other duties as they are assigned.

Qualities and Skills

These are needed to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities.

  • Minimum 5 years prior proven working experience as an Attorney.
  • Minimum J.D., and California Bar license.
  • Demonstrable strength in client communication.
  • Proficient in MS Office and the use of Attorney timekeeping programs, as well as Client file management.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills.

Associate Attorney

Summary

The successful candidate will be a third to fifth year attorney, who demonstrates a passion for serving the public interest by advocating on behalf of our clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct more specialized research in the discovery phase of all proceedings.
  • Provide support to basic and intermediate legal proceedings, such as depositions, basic motion hearings, etc.
  • Provide litigation support in trials, appearances at motions, depositions, and some hearings are likely.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement policies and develop improvements.
  • Provide legal support for the coordination of inter- and intra-departmental operations.
  • Resolve issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Assume responsibility for timely reporting of hours.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Managing Partner, Partner, Trial Attorney, or Senior Attorney.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualities and Skills

These are needed to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities.

  • Minimum J.D., and California Bar license, and between 3-5 years of Associate Attorney experience.
  • Demonstrable strength in client communication.
  • Proficient in MS Office and the use of Attorney timekeeping programs, as well as Client file management.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Associate

Summary

The successful candidate will be a first or second year attorney, who demonstrates a passion for serving the public interest by advocating on behalf of our clients. Being hardworking, dedicated, and discovery driven are all key factors in success at our Firm. Strong communications skills and a can-do attitude are expected of all of our personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research through various means to identify key litigation points in the development of our cases.
  • Draft basic motions to be reviewed by senior attorney in the prosecution of our cases.
  • Some appearances at basic hearings over time and to be accompanied by more senior attorneys.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to recommend improvements in case management.
  • Resolve issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Assume responsibility for timely reporting of hours.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Managing Partner, Partner, Trial Attorney, and/or Senior Attorney.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualities and Skills

These are needed to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities.

  • Minimum J.D., and California Bar license, and up to 1 year of Associate Attorney experience.
  • Solid understanding of Firm client communication functions, including intake and file completion activities.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office and databases.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; both written and verbal.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
